Işıl graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1999. She received her LL.M. degree from Galatasaray University in 2008. During her LLM degree she submitted a thesis on Project Finance in Public Services & Public Private Partnerships. Işıl also obtained a Business Administration diploma from York College, Toronto (2001) and certification on Corporate Finance studies focusing on Chartered Financial Advisory from the University of Toronto. She is a member of the Istanbul Bar Association and speaks fluent English besides her native Turkish.
Prior to setting up CANAZ YILMAZ, Işıl worked in-house with the legal department of a prominent local Holding Company in Istanbul, dealing mainly with the foreign shareholders of the group. She advised on a wide range of issues, including project finance, energy, leisure, tourism, facility management, banking and financial leasing. Thereafter she advanced her career as a managing legal consultant with Ernst & Young.
She has also lectured at Kadir Has University and Vatel Istanbul (International School of Hospitality and Tourism Management) and published several articles analyzing Turkish legislation in the fields of energy, BOT (build-operate-transfer) models, project finance and foreign investment.
